  • Position Overview

    FLEXcon Company, Inc., the leading global manufacturer of coated and laminated films and adhesives, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer at their headquarters in Spencer, MA that will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading existing systems, evaluating, selecting and/or designing new systems. This person will oversee projects that require a high level of interaction with many different trades, engineers and departments, as well as provide technical support to production.


    • Design components, systems and/or facilities utilizing a computerized drafting system.
    • Evaluate requests for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment; gather information and costs; supply specifications for equipment; obtain approval and purchase materials; provide training and written procedures to production personnel; evaluate and monitor completed projects.
    • Prepare proposals for management.
    • Evaluate and review bids from prospective contractors.
    • Manage project timelines and costs.
    • Responsible for expenditures up to several million dollars.
    • Develop work specifications and requirements for contractors, vendors, and/or maintenance.
    • Supervise contractors and vendors to track project schedule.
    • Arrange for and oversee project installations with outside vendors and/or maintenance.
    • Write operational procedures for equipment installations.
    • Supply technical support to production/maintenance during system and machine breakdowns.
    • Assess new engineering requests to determine project objectives; develop and present a plan of action; research government, industry and FLEXcon standards to determine project requirements; maintain appropriate files.
    • Troubleshoot system start-ups.
    • Document project status in the computer system.
    • Responsible for designated areas within the department (e.g., roll programs, dryers, oxidizers).
    • Oversee projects that require a high level of interaction with many different trades, engineers and departments.
    • Complete special projects.
    • Attend monthly meetings.
    • Conduct necessary equipment inspections.
    • Perform other duties, as necessary.


    • Bachelors degree in engineering  (Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing) with 5-7 years of experience
    • Web handling, coating equipment, ovens, oxidizers and HVAC equipment is a plus
    • Strong project management skills. 
    • Ability to work in team based environment.
