  • Position Overview

    FLEXcon Company, Inc., the leading global manufacturer of coated and laminated films and adhesives is seeking a Lean Production Manager to help lead our Spencer, MA manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the individual in this position will manage resources on the day shift, both during the week and weekend. The individual should exemplify FLEXcon’s Corporate Values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and drive for excellence through problem solving and development of people not just on their team but across the enterprise.  More specifically, provide direction for the coating and slitting functions through various management practices that minimize downtime, eliminate waste, and increase productivity.

    Responsibilities

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The daily role is to perform the tasks associated with the 3 stages of production to meet customer requirements.

     

    Pre-production

    • Walk the floor before shift start and check for safety hazards
    • Check team member wellness/fit for duty
    • Verify machinery is ready for start up
    • Conduct safety audits
    • Plan and coordinate team member resources
    • Plan production tasks for the day/week

    During production

    • Support team leader daily kaizen
    • Implement the quality system in coating areas
    • Lead continuous improvement activities using the structured problem-solving method
    • Lead coating and slitting operations teams
    • Coordinate and lead the application of coating technology, including: slot die, knife over roll, three roll reverse and anilox roll according to standards
    • Lead abnormality management for the area
    • Daily coaching of team members to standards

    Post-production

    • Review outcomes of production and if plan did not equal actual, assess causes and problem solve
    • Conduct handover to the next shift Group Leader
    • Reset equipment and machinery ready for next shift

     

    Leadership responsibilities (in conjunction with daily role):

    • Develop and maintain positive team member relations focused on mutual trust, dignity, fairness, and consistency
    • Maintain records according to ISO standards
    • Attend various meetings and lean events
    • Lead continuous improvement activities cross-functionally using the structured problem-solving method
    • Serve as technical liaison to Product Development, providing expertise on design and operation of coating/slitting equipment from concept through to daily operation
    • Train new team members in safety expectations at FLEXcon
    • Implement Human Resources processes with respect to personnel issues, benefits, recruitment info functional area
    • Authority to approve invoices and purchase requisitions up to $1K
    • Maintain own personal development plan

    Requirements

      • REQUIREMENTS:
    • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience would be considered
    • EXPERIENCE: 5 to 7 years’ management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
    • PERSONAL CONTACTS (Internal/External): Work directly with office and manufacturing employees
    • CONFIDENTIAL DATA: Some exposure to confidential data, budgets, product information and employee data
    • COGNITIVE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Standing and walking required during workday.
    • PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily on the production floor and in an office in the production environment.
    • TRAVEL %: up to 10% travel may be required
