  • Position Overview

    FLEXcon Company, Inc., the leading global manufacturer of coated and laminated films and adhesives, is seeking a Controller with manufacturing experience to lead the Accounting Team, while assisting the entire organization as it implements new lean operational processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable, General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Credit, Treasury, and compliance with sales tax filings. This hands-on role coordinates with other FLEXcon Holding entities to accomplish reporting responsibilities and consolidation of financial results of the U.S., Mexico CFE, FLEXcon Canada LMT, FLEXcon converting, FLEXcon Asia, FLEXcon Europe, FLEXcon Industrial and Arlon This role reports to the CFO of North America and is based at FLEXcon’s headquarters in Spencer, Massachusetts.

    Responsibilities

    • The Controller supports the company’s accounting activities, maximizing the use of resources to increase throughput
    • Leads and coordinates monthly closing, reconciliations and review
    • Responsible for preparing recurring journal entries, accruals and allocations
    • Performs Consolidation and Profit Eliminations for FLEXcon’s Holding Company
    • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across the accounting department.
    • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, etc.
    • Develop, improve and issue timely and complete monthly financial statements for the CFO and Board of Directors.
    • Maintain the overall integrity of General Accounting, Budgeting and Reporting System.
    • Lead, supervise and train accounting team while, working towards automation of procedures
    • Ensures personal property and sales tax compliance
    • Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures using GAAP principles
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
    • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
    • Monitors and maintains cash balances in coordination with Assistant Treasurer.
    • Systems Administrator for General Ledger System; Computron and Financial Reporting System; Chameleon
    • Actively participates in all third party financial audits, including confirmations and preparation

    Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting or educational equivalent, CPA a plus
    • 10 years experience in Accounting related field including 6 years management experience.
    • LEAN methodologies a plus
    • Expertise in management within a mid-size company, complex technical organization. Well-developed analytical and problem solving capabilities.
    • Leadership of direct/in-direct reports of a team of up to 15 employees
    • High learning agility and ability to take accounting research and apply insights across organization
    • Ability to travel up to 10%
    • Highly developed communication and influencing skills
    • Highly detail oriented and organized
    • Mindset for continuous improvement utilizing lean principles and leading team through change
    • MS office and demonstrated experience utilizing ERP
