  • Position Overview

    As a Regional Sales Manager with FLEXcon, you will have the ability to manage, mentor and develop a team of up to 6 sales representatives to expand sales at existing accounts and to prospect to identify, develop and grow new accounts.  You will be instrumental in participating in annual planning meetings to help set company budget and SDP (strategic deployment process) initiatives.  Active participant in prioritizing key business opportunities that will meet / exceed budgeted revenue and margin targets. This role would be based out of your home in the Greater Boston or Worcester Area and would cover the Northeastern states and the province of Ontario, Canada.

    Responsibilities

    • Working with Sales Representatives, Business Teams and Customers develop annual sales and margin forecasts.
    • Implement sales and marketing strategies to guide and direct sales organization to attain preset profit and sales goals based on forecasts.
    • Negotiates /approves contracts, blanket purchase orders, customer special stock agreements and material returns / credits with customers. Establish and maintain credibility with customers.
    • Direct responsibility for customer account(s) in region.
    • Responsibility for multi-site customer to insure communication and consistency of FLEXcon sales activities.
    • Works collaboratively with other Regional Sales Managers to insure potential and actual shifts of business across sales territories / regions is maintained by FLEXcon.
    • Identifies and communicates common themes within sales / products / project successes that can be shared across region and company to insure best practices.
    • Identifies and communicates common themes with respect to problems / process challenges that need to be addressed and corrected.
    • Continually examine customers and their place in the market to determine revenue and margin potential. Measure effectiveness of competition at individual accounts and within the market to anticipate market changes. Appraise competitive products and recommend changes in FLEXcon products and procedures to address competitive threats.
    • Participate in management meetings to develop annual plans and initiatives (customer specific, market specific, overall FLEXcon) that drive company results.
    • Active participant in SDP Action Plans either as Champion, team member or as contributor.
    • Active participant on the Key Opportunity prioritization team. Includes but not limited to the vetting, pricing and product development recommendation activities required to successfully drive the project.
    • Attends Executive Team meetings on a quarterly basis to provide Regional updates covering revenue and margin achievement against plan and countermeasures (if required) to achieve plan. Responsible to communicate why we are or are not driving product and project success in agreed time frame and what is needed to get back on track.
    • Makes recommendations with respect to process and product improvements that improve our processes and equipment resulting in a better business result for our customers and FLEXcon.
    • Confer with other FLEXcon personnel, specifically marketing, in preparation of advertising and product promotion programs.
    • Participate in the planning and execution of regional and companywide Sales Meetings.
    • Monitor performance of regional sales functions and budgetary operations; anticipate and/or investigate the causes of inadequate performance, take appropriate corrective action. Provide guidance to subordinates and visit customers as required.
    • Hire, train, assign, transfer, and performance manage sales personnel as required; insure compliance to all company policies, conduct performance appraisals

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years industry field experience with successful track record
    • Experience managing a minimum of 3 - 5 direct reports
    • Hire, train and develop your direct sales team as required; conduct performance appraisals and goal setting.  Make salary recommendations and handle performance concerns.
    • Develop annual sales and margin forecasts.
    • Implement sales and marketing strategies to guide and direct sales organization to attain preset profit and sales goals based on forecasts. 
    • Continually examine customers and their place in the market to determine revenue and margin potential.  Measure effectiveness of competition at individual accounts and within the market to anticipate market changes.  Appraise competitive products and recommend changes in FLEXcon products and procedures to address competitive threats.
    • Possess a current and valid state driver’s license and passport
    • Industrial sales experience a plus
    • Professionalism, high energy and excellent communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing would be a plus
    • Successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen
    • Ability to travel by car 50% of the time and by plane 4 – 6 times per year
