  • Position Overview

    FLEXcon Company, Inc., the leading global manufacturer of coated and laminated films and adhesives, is seeking an IT Director to lead the IT Division and assist the entire organization as it implements new lean operational processes. You will consult with business units and review IT usage, services, technology, and department specific projects in order to identify, forecast and develop IT needs and solutions for our North American operations. A large focus will be to recommend and lead legacy system replacement efforts using a variety of techniques. This role reports to the CFO of North America and is based at FLEXcon’s headquarters in Spencer, Massachusetts.


    Job Responsibilities

    • Responsible for defining IT Strategic Plans for Digital Transformation.  
    • Directs the utilization of information system resources and plans, designs, and implements organization wide information systems and technologies.
    • Assigns and coordinates the work of Information Technologies staff. Provides overall technical leadership for programming and support within a structure that is consistently expanding through organization wide system development.
    • Assists in the development of organization-wide systems standards (hardware, software, network systems) policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for development and implementation of information systems disaster recovery plans.
    • Coordinates, develops, and executes program for continual measurement of the organization’s information systems, and communication networks’ performance and effectiveness.
    • Responsible for implementing and enhancing Help Desk Support & Programming request systems.


    Project Management

    • Leads the identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery
    • Facilitates the agreed-upon process that develops plans and prioritization by leadership and governance
    • Inspects projects proactively to ensure the products are delivered on time, on budget and within the quality parameters
    • Conducts project reviews as needed and facilitates milestone reviews to understand if projects are ahead of schedule, on schedule or are in jeopardy of not meeting the milestone
    • Reports all project statuses quarterly to the CFO
    • Manage the budget for the IT division and maintain close control of IT investments and track realization of benefits
    • Involvement with IT user groups, associations and affiliations to stay abreast of technological developments and create best in class design
    • Be an integral part of the Leadership Team and provide insight to trends in the industry and how it may influence our future


    Vendor Management

    • Identifies, evaluates and develops vendor options and suitability to perform outsourced activities, projects and programs.
    • Develops and evaluates opportunities to improve, enhance or expand IT vendors. Develops and implements metrics to assess vendor performance and apply continuous improvement
    • Works in conjunction with legal and sourcing to ensure compliance with legal and sourcing policies and to negotiate contracts and to optimize external costs for the company
    • Reviews and approves IT purchases for compliance with corporate policy and objectives.
    • Ensures vendors contracts are signed timely and vendors are paid on-time to eliminate risk and unnecessary costs for the company


    Business Relationship

    • Manages relationships with IT and business units including developing knowledge of business unit global business models, critical processes and success factors
    • Review IT usage, services, technology, and department specific projects in order to identify, forecast and develop IT needs
    • Coordinates the use and delivery of IT services for FLEXcon North America
    • Prepares and submits operational budget and cost estimates for proposed projects to CFO
    • Develop, maintain and execute plans to maximize the value of IT
    • Manage a team of up to 20 employees
    • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
    • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing and coordinating standard work procedures and productivity standards.



    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or educational equivalent.  
    • 10 years experience in IT related field including 6 years management experience.
    • Certified Project Management Professional (PMI or equivalent)
    • LEAN methodologies a plus
    • Advanced knowledge of IT activities and processes.
    • Expertise in management within a mid-size company, complex technical organization. Well-developed analytical and problem solving capabilities. Demonstrated capabilities in the development and execution of IT strategies and tactical plans.
    • Experience with licensing and large IT software suppliers negotiations (Oracle, Microsoft, etc.)
    • Experience with software development (preferred). Strong business partner - demonstrating skills of cross functional collaboration and project management expertise
    • Demonstrated complex problem-solving capability utilizing a formalized approach
    • Leadership of direct/in-direct reports of a team of up to 20 employees
    • High learning agility and ability to take IT research and apply insights across organization
    • Ability to travel up to 15%
    • Highly developed communication and influencing skills
    • Mindset for continuous improvement utilizing lean principles and leading team through change
    • Experience in materials control, supply chain systems, Lean Mfg., production planning and control
    • MS office and demonstrated experience utilizing an ERP and project management software
